Prorated Tire Value Calculator
What is left is the tread above the wear bars, not the full original depth.
What it does
Purchase price × (current 32nds − 2) / (original 32nds − 2). The 2/32" floor is the wear-bar height required by FMVSS 139.
How to use it
Enter what you paid, original depth (often 10/32" on a passenger tire) and current depth in 32nds.
How to read the result
At the bars the remaining value is zero in this model. An insurer, a warranty company or a shop may use a different schedule. This is a transparent remainder, not their check.
What this does not calculate
Ignores age, damage, brand and whether the tire is still in production. Uneven wear means the worst groove should be the current number.
Does not tell you what a specific insurance company will pay.
Questions
- Why subtract 2/32"?
- Usable tread in this model is down to the wear bars, the same floor as our tread-depth tool. Below that we do not assign leftover value.
- What if original was 11/32"?
- Enter 11. Do not leave the passenger default if you know the real number — especially on LT tires.
